5 Things that an Indian student never learnt

Education in India is not for the faint-hearted. In fact, it has always been like this, pressure-filled. Where kids are pushed harder and harder which makes education more like a cough syrup in India.

We fail hugely to gain success in the world market as we still want to stick with the education system that the colonial masters made to produce clerks and civil servants. It’s time we evolve or else the following problems found in current Indian students would continue to plague even the coming generations.

  1. Read more; Why?

India wouldn’t have become such a great nation if Gandhi and Nehru were running behind marks. Our parents and teachers put aside our common sense and judge our intelligence based on how much content we could vomit out on exam sheet.

Thus, Indian students never learned to read extra as education always remained marks bound and they never read things that were not “in syllabus”.

  1. Theory fails, practice remains!

Our education system wants to gear and test knowledge at every level but totally sidelines the importance of teaching skills. As they say, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for one day, teach him how to catch a fish and you have fed him for a lifetime.” But in India, rote learning and memorization are what prevails. We encourage cramming so much that the lifelong learning based on a student’s aptitude is lost.

Our engineers fail to grab high profile jobs as they search for answer scripts instead of revamping their imagination. Thus I feel that Indian students definitely never learned how to cope with problems in a practical way and are reduced to bookworms.

  1. Job-oriented, not Goal-oriented

“India is a country where people first become engineers, and then they decide what they want to do in life.”

For us, education is very closely related to money. That is why; one would find in India that people don’t follow their passion instead they run behind degrees that can fetch them good jobs in future. However, they fail to understand that lack of interest would not achieve them the prowess that is required in any field. People have to learn that education is not degree-bound but it goes beyond it and here I would like to quote Amir from 3 idiots (which I totally believe and agree with),

“ kaabil Bano, kamyabi jhak maar ke piche aaegi”

Image result for 3 idiots dialogues

source credit:filmykeeday
  1. Rat-race; I doubt if anyone will ever win it

One is healthy competition and other is what happens in India. Basically, a rat race is when you don’t have a goal and start running behind something merely because someone else is running behind it. Slowly and slowly, there is a gush of people running towards the unknown object. So, breathe and think if you have also chosen someone else’s goal as yours or are you striving for the product.

  1. Professionalism; What’s that again?

We took our assignments, home-work, teachers, and education as a whole lightly, and they took us lightly. Amidst all this ‘lightness’, we missed learning the essence of education, being diligent and professional about one’s work. And because our education system was always so laid back where no one really cared for what we learned (nor did we cared), we forgot to learn the most important etiquette of life.

And later when we enter the professional world, we compare ourselves with others and wonder what went wrong!

Why College Students Dropout: Don’t Let it Happen to You

Isn’t college the best time of our lives? Yes! It certainly is. But not for all. There are students who despite desperately wanting to join college cannot do so. Judging them won’t be right because they have their own set of reasons. There could be a chance that either you are the one who has to dropout or you might be the one who is eventually thinking too. Either way, don’t let that happen to you. Here are the reasons why college students mostly dropout:

  • Money issues

Finance is one of the most common reason, why people dropout. College is surely expensive and not everyone has appropriate and sufficient funds for the same. But don’t let money issues get in way of your education. Either start saving initially or you can talk to college authorities for various scholarships and aids.

tumblr_nw6sjk89ek1rv4aqro2_1280

  • In need of full-time job

You might think that college is a waste of time and you should start earning. Well, you might not realize this now but sometime in future that a degree is a must. Don’t let the want of job get in between your degree. Get a degree and you will surely earn more than what you will earn without it.

  • Family issues

Oh! That’s a tough one. There could be some problem in the family that might be leading you to drop out of the college, but please don’t. The situations could be unavoidable but there is always a middle way out. Find it and get going for your degree.

  • Establishing a startup

Right! Startups are the new trend and apparently, almost every student wants to start a business without completing the degree. Your idea might be innovative, creative and the best, but please don’t opt out of college for the same. What if the startup doesn’t go well? You need to have a backup, don’t you?

giphy

If you think college would be really easy, then you are wrong. It is totally a different place than school. Your environment, friends, campus, everything is going to change. It is going to be stressful, but why dropout? You are a warrior and you know it, so get up and face everything that lies ahead. Just relax because When you get the degree in your hand, all the stress you have had will be worth it.

tumblr_npnm5x7kPZ1tx9vazo1_500

  • Life outside class looks fun

Well definitely! the life you are leading outside the classroom is fun and people dropout because they don’t enjoy being in a class. But have you tried it out? Make more friends in your classroom and the life inside classroom would be much more fun than outside. Don’t dropout just for the fun of a few days. You don’t want to spend the future days regretting about the fun you had outside instead of attending class. Believe us, getting a degree is much more fun.

No matter what the reason is, Just Breathe. Think and you will definitely find a way out of the trouble you are in. If you are willfully opting out of the college, our suggestion would be not to do so. Get a degree and then you can do whatever you want. College gives you security for future, so why not secure it? Think before coming to a decision because you don’t want yourself to be regretting about dropping out few years down the line.

7 Unusual Statues And Monuments Across The Globe!

There are some monuments and statues that instill a sense of pride, beauty or emotions among the viewer. Those are unforgettable pieces of art that you get to see on field trips or in the pages of history books. But then there are some less-explored monuments, which are in a way an ode to the weird, the wonderful, and the just plain wacky which would make you think, “Seriously Bro? Seriously? Were you high or something before you ended up making these?”

Let’s look at some of them, One cautionary advice would be to just enjoy the view instead of trying to understand them (not if you don’t have something better to do).

7. De Vaartkapoen

This statue was erected in 1985 in the Molenbeek area of Brussels. The scene it depicts is reminiscent of a comedy sketch: a man unexpectedly emerges from a manhole and pulls the feet from underneath a policeman. It’s author is Belgian sculptor Tom Frantzen.

6. Shit Fountain

maxresdefault.jpg

Pic Courtesy : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hr3jYKvydY

Artist Jerzy Kenar got tired of stepping out of his Chicago home and constantly stepping in dog poop. So, he decided to put his talents to good use and created a visual monument that would serve as a reminder to the dog owners of the neighborhood to scoop up what their pups leave behind. Enter Shit Fountain, a fecal-shaped bronze coil on top of a cement pillar with the monument’s title carved into the side.

5. The Headington Shark

Pic Courtesy: http://armchairtravelogue.blogspot.in/2010/04/headington-shark-which-survived-attack.html

The significance of this sculpture is much greater than may appear at first sight. It was erected on the 41st anniversary of the nuclear attack on Nagasaki at the end of World War II. The sculpture depicts a beautiful , if potentially deadly lethal weapon falling from the sky.

4. Die Badende

56875945.jpg

Pic Courtesy: http://www.panoramio.com/photo/56875945

Artist Oliver Voss created the sculpture as an advertisement for British beauty company Glory. The company wanted to make a “big splash” in thanking the German people for embracing their latest line of products. The advertisement proved very successful; customers and a large crowd gathered to watch the woman hoisted from the water. The movers had a large towel ready to conceal her lady bits from peeping eyes.

3. Jimmy Carter Peanut

Jimmy Carter Peanut.png

The Jimmy Carter Peanut might give you nightmares, standing at 4 meters (13 ft) tall with a wide, toothy smile and no eyes. The peanut can be found on the side of the road in Plains, Georgia. The structure started out far from Georgia, however. It was actually constructed in Indiana in 1976 to honor Jimmy Carter’s visit to the state during his presidential campaign tour. Why was a giant, smiling peanut, of all things, used as a tribute? Well, before he was president, Carter was actually a peanut farmer.

2. Jeju Loveland

IMG_0951.jpg
Pic Courtesy: http://thetravellingsquid.com/2017/01/08/sexciting-visit-to-the-jeju-loveland/img_0951/

The salacious monuments found on Jeju Island in South Korea were made to honor sexual acts. The park itself is called Jeju Loveland and arouses more than just curiosity from its many visitors. The theme park opened in 2004 and has a collection of more than 140 erotic statues depicting sexual encounters between both humans and animals. The goals of the theme park are to break down barriers and taboo feelings surrounding sex and promote the “natural beauty of sexuality.”

1. Brownnosers

Brownnosers, created by Czech artist David Cerny, takes the term “brownnoser” to an entirely new (and literal) level. The two statues stand, or rather bend over, outside the Futura Gallery in Prague. The two figures are positioned side-by-side with the lower portions of their torsos protruding from a cement wall. Viewers are invited to climb ladders attached to the open anuses of the figures and stick their heads inside the openings.

Is there a Life after Death?

Humans are the only species on earth who know for a fact they will die one day. But then again, this knowledge isn’t the one they relish. Throughout history, people have sought eternal life trying almost everything and most recently trying to fulfill this hope by pinning it to science. The only thing that surpasses this hope that death can be postponed forever is the hope that life will continue after death. And this belief in life after death comes in all shapes and sizes. In between the views involving continued existence in a physical body, and those in which survival takes place outside the body we are still stuck with it, trying to reason and understand the same.

Today let’s talk about that one question which has troubled every mind for centuries, And the question is, is there life after death? I mean, what we know for a fact is that one hundred percent of the people that you’ll ever meet are you going to die because we are structured to. But, is that it? What happens to you after you die? And if that is so, what’s the basis of the same? How does it even work? Let’s try to evaluate.

NDEFeatured

Pic: http://bigpicturequestions.com/what-is-a-walk-in-or-a-soul-exchange/

If words of Plato were to be considered, he said that “I’m not sure what’s after death but nature seems to give us a picture of what it will be like, some new kind of life after death. Inside of every piece of fruit is a seed and if you plant the seed, you get the tree that brought it. An oak tree has an acorn and the acorn, if you plant it, you get another oak tree. The caterpillar goes into this cocoon and it seems to die and then it bursts forth as a butterfly.” Does that mean we have an ulterior purpose ? or is it all about For you are dust, And to dust, you shall return.”

2939_600.jpg

Pic: semioart.livejournal.com

According to Anthropologists almost every culture and religion known on the face of the earth believe in some kind of afterlife – everyone from the primitive cultures to the Amazon to the Himalayas to urban cultures.

There is this something in human beings that believe that death is just not an end, there’s something. Some people end up building pyramids while others build tombs, if we look closely into the rituals, people think that they can take their riches with them. Somehow death unites us all (at least the way we think). There’s a universal belief system in terms of life after death – a common thread of all people.

Pyramids-mhmte0dru46f6znb9jr1og4oi7ec11ag7kxbjs0uak

Pic: theverge.com

That hunger, that thirst for knowing the meaning, the significance which never quite gets satiated. No matter what we accomplish, no matter how good it gets, there’s always that, hmmmm, we’re not quite there. And that is another reason to believe that there is life after death. Heaven or hell whatever you name it, there has to be something.

And then, even a part of science, i.e. “NDE” or the near-death experiences conducts various researchers trying to put an end to this mystery. With numerous people reporting near-death experiences where they see a light at the end of the tunnel or a mystic figure waiting to take them has been largely reported.

shutterstock_232844671-pic905-895x505-84051.jpg

Pic: gazeta.ru

Then comes our mythologies, the Hindu Mythology for that matter has a whole book called “Garur Puran” which tells you about how will you treated in hell or heaven according to your past deeds and the way you had led your life on Earth. Bible Claims that Jesus resurrected after being dead and buried for 3 days which yet again gives us hope of the same.

pap-1464244763.jpg

What is the truth behind Life and Death? Can we somehow live forever? Is there a light waiting for us at the end of the tunnel? Only time will tell. Till then let’s hatch more conspiracy theories.

Live-In Relationships ~ New Kid on the block?

A rush of chilliness ran down my spine when he asked me if I wanted to move in with him. I stood there, dazzled and confused at the same time. Did I hear it right? Or maybe he meant something else? A sense of delight was slowly chipping in but I kept a blank face on, holding my ground, waiting for him to come again. As startled as I was, I didn’t want to give that away. I slowly moved towards him pretending as if I haven’t heard him in the first instance. “Sorry,” I said. “I guess I couldn’t hear you”, gently sliding that strand of hair that was covering my left eye while the right lay glued at him, catching every last bit of reaction I could gather. He, for once hesitated, and then mustering up his voice said again, “Do you wanna Move in with me?”. And there I could see him turning pale as if he had seen a ghost. While I, on the other hand, was trying to control my laughter on looking at his face which was showing signs of uncertainty and fear. I leaned towards him wrapping my hands around his shoulders, staring him in the eye and said, “I thought you would never ask.” and that was our moment, A moment to cherish. While the sun was setting down, giving way to the moon, the sea met the horizon, crimson redness scattering all around as if it’s giving an approval for us to be together.

WY0_0305-01

But it was a day later when reality struck. LIVE-IN was supposedly a huge deal for people around. I couldn’t understand why. I mean, It’s me who is the one who will be impacted and it’s everyone else around who are feeling the heat. Why so? Well maybe because it’s their job to judge! But then I don’t know what makes them judge it anyway. Two grown-up individuals who like each other decide to live together under one roof. Where in this world does that sound Corrupted? And yet, It’s frowned upon. It’s easy to judge others but then judging someone on the basis of a preconceived bias which is all but positive might be termed as a jerk move. (Oh Damn. Are the moral police reading this? :3)

maxresdefaultPic Courtesy: https://youtu.be/O6233wzermI

Let’s get into some statistics while we are talking about this to make it a solid research supported account about the new kid on the block, and most importantly, one who is here to stay, Live-in Relationship! The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development reports that more than half (54 percent) of all first marriages between 1990 and 1994 began with unmarried cohabitation. This said I guess more than half of the people can’t be that wrong. Eh?

BUT BUT BUT, There always has to be a but. Isn’t it? 😂

Live-In comes with its own share of problems and downfalls. Let’s me try to lay that down too :

  • Living together is considered to be more stressful than being married.
  • Just over 50% of couples who have lived-in ever get married.
  • Couples who lived together before marriage tend to divorce early in their marriage.
  • Compared to married individuals, those cohabiting have higher levels of depression and substance abuse.

Should that stop us from getting into one? Naah. We are the Millennials. We love to live dangerously. But then again completely ignoring the fact and the noticed patterns would be a foolish move. It’s always the decision of the couple. What can be done is put in the rationality of thoughts about your motivation for living together.
Is it just out of convenience?
Is it to spend more time together?
Are you uncertain about the relationship and want to make a more informed decision?
Or, is it just a prelude to marriage?
What’s need to be Kept in mind is that couples who live together seem to have the most successful outcomes when they have already made a clear commitment to each other.
Let me try to draw a line to this now for two reasons.
One, He is getting bored and I can’t see him wait on me while I am glued to my screen.
Two, The first reason is important enough. 😉

WY0_0307-02
Last but not the least guys. Whether you choose to live under the same roof or miles apart. Distance is never a problem when you love someone. It’s always about priorities and if you could make the person of your life your priority. Then trust me, all these statistics and research would be of no use at all.
BECAUSE LOVE IS WHAT LOVE WANTS!  😋

8 Conspiracy Theories That Will Make You Look Differently At The World

The world is a strange place and there are a lot of unanswered questions that make you wonder the truth. Which is how conspiracy theories come into existence, in order to discover the actual truth that is hidden from the ‘truth’ that is being presented to the masses. Like, did Titanic really went down or not? Below are eight conspiracy theories that are super interesting and many of these people actually believe to be true.

1. Titanic Never Went Down!

giphy

Source

Well, a ship definitely went down but, it wasn’t the Titanic. As per the theory, it was the Olympic. The shipbuilding company White Star has been accused of committing insurance fraud by fixing up the Olympic, an identical ship, and claiming it to be the Titanic. Also, there were a large number of last-minute cancellations for the Olympic by many rich peeps. Maybe, because they were aware of the switch?

2. Airlines want you to die

plane

Source

Yup! You read that right. In case, you find yourself amidst of a plane crash and make out alive. Chances are you are probably going to sue the airline and likely to win big. To make sure you die during such an event, the brace position airlines tell you to get in will end in death because if you are in that position during the collision, your head will bang into the seat in front of you and snap your neck. Many passengers have also claimed to see flight attendants taking on a different position.

3. Princess Diana SAS ‘assassination plot’

princess-diana-death-headlines.jpg

Source

Princess Diana’s sudden death shook the entire world and even after two decades since that fatal car crash, one theory about her death is still doing rounds. According to it, the SAS was involved in Diana’s death and an ex- SAS soldier has said to have told his wife that a special forces hit squad flashed a light to blind Diana’s driver and caused her death crash. It is a technique developed to combat terrorists and the said soldier had gone missing days before he was due to be quizzed by the police.

4. Harry Potter wasn’t written by J.K. Rowling

jk

Source

In 2005, a Norwegian film director Nina Grünfeld made the claim that Rowling was actually a ghostwriter. She was well- paid to play up her rags to riches story to build interest in Harry Potter. Ghostwriting is not a new concept in the world of writing and while this could very well be true.

5. The Flintstones is set in Future

flintstones.jpg

Source

Kids favourite cartoon show  ‘The Flintstones’ was apparently set in a post-apocalyptic future, where the remaining people recreate society. If you’ve watched the show, you know they have their very own variant of many present-day devices, such as a bird as a record player. They also celebrate Christmas. But how could they probably know of all of these cool devices to the point of recreating stuff?  Well, our entire childhood was a lie.

6. Crisis Actors Do Exist

crisis.jpg

Source

These actors are people who are paid and planted at horrific events like shootings, terrorist attacks, etc by the government in order to keep a check about what gets reported to the public and act as if they were there or are survivors.

7. Taylor Swift is a Satanist

taylor

Source

The reigning queen of music industry aka Taylor Swift, who was born in 1989, looks a lot like Zeena LaVey, who was born in 1953 and she was actually a Satanist. They look awfully similar in the picture and many people are convinced they’re clones but others just think they’re related. Maybe Zeena is Taylor’s actual mom? Who knows?

8. The Whole World was created last Thursday

thrusday

Source

This mind-blowing theory is really very interesting and quite hard to understand. According to it, the whole universe was built just last Thursday, with the impression of being billions of years old. Everything that has happened in time actually happened between last Thursday and today, from major events in history to every single thing that’s ever happened to you.

Peeps, these are all ‘theories’, so have fun reading and searching for them. None of them are true facts.

5 Reasons to Boycott Bigg Boss Asap

Every other year, India’s favourite bad boy, Salman Khan brings us another crude and crass season of Bigg Boss. In the name of a social experiment, it is basically saas-bahu saga all over again but with an intense dash of swear words. From throwing piss on each other to throwing water bottles at each other and often acting like primitive children. Actually, to be fair to primitive children, even they show some likeness of restraint in their wildness. Here are a few reasons why you should stop watching it asap!

1.Inhuman Tasks

BB-11-teaser.jpgSource
In the name of so-called tasks, the Bigg Boss of the show makes contestants perform tasks which are shoddy and inhuman, to say the least. This season saw TV’s favourite Bahu aka Hina Khan putting red chili powder in Bandgi Kalra’s eyes whereas the latter was seen rubbing garlic on Akash Dadlani’s face. Apparently, all this is done in the name of entertainment.

2. Who This?

One can easily divide the contestants in every season into two categories – never ever heard of them and heard of them in the last decade. Most of them are self-confessed celebs of the glamour world or are in desperate need of an image makeover. But, for the past few years, commoners aka aam aadmi has been a part of the show as well. People like Puneesh Sharma, a Delhi business family offspring, —who announced: “party karna mera shauk hai”. They are the ones who are doing the show for a short span of fame, or notoriety, should I say? Well, no publicity is bad publicity. Right?

3. Same Old Formula

Anyone who has been following the show for the past few years can blindly tell what kind of participants will be on the show. Thanks to it’s same old tried and tested formula of a decade! There is always a god/woman. This time this divinity slot was filled by Sshivani Durgah whose strangely spelled name couldn’t keep her from participating in the show. There’s always a member of LGBT community, who was Sabyasachi Satyapathi this season. A firangi model introduced in the middle of the show who can’t even utter a word of Hindi and two people who will immediately fall in love with each other and make out in the dark under the blankets like Puneesh and Bandgi. The makers hit repeat on this formula every other season! How Original?

4. Physical & Mental Abuse

tirture.gifSource
No season of the show has been complete without these two! This season saw Akash Dadlani forcibly kissing Shilpa Shinde and Vikas later landing few punches on Akash, leaving viewers shocked. Not to forget the constant nagging, fights, arguments, throwing shade against each other, intentionally create fights among two people just for the heck of it and seeing Hina Khan belittle every other woman has just exposed the horrible mindsets of these so-called celebs. But, for how long this physical and mental torture can someone tolerate and the non-stop bullying is just annoying, oh and, boring too.

5. Bhaijaan ki Bhaigiri
bhai.gifSource

Bollywood ka Bhaijaan aka Salman Khan has been hosting the show for half a decade now. But, the actor seems to misunderstand the concept of hosting, he bores everyone with his stale jokes, he looks tired and yes, he also acts as the judge, jury and executioner on the show. He is accused of being biased and ganging up against contestants, and all of this is completely dictated by his impulses. For instance, this current season he has been favouring country’s favourite Bhabhi Ji aka Shilpa Shinde.

Folks,
Bigg Boss is nothing but a bunch of celebs under house-arrest who would go to any extent to win the show! Don’t waste your precious time watching this rubbish.

9 things that vegetarians don’t want to hear anymore!

Life isn’t easy, but it is a little more of a nuisance if you happen to be a vegetarian. Apparently, NOT eating meat is a concept that is too hard for the normal human brain to grasp. As a result, the vegetarians get to hear a lot of things on a daily basis that they can live without. Here are nine of the MOST annoying things ever.

1. “Aye, tu veg hai? Par kyun?”
No, I am a human being. Ever heard of free will? Yeah, that means I get to choose what I do and I DON’T WANT TO EAT MEAT! Let me enjoy my food ffs!

2. Are you dieting?
Just because I am a vegetarian doesn’t mean I am crunching on salads all the time. There exist things like cheeseburgers and Margherita pizza. And for the last time stop with the “You eat ghaans? Lololol” jokes.

3. You don’t eat meat so where do you get your protein from?
It’s not my fault that you’re not good at basic science, but other foods have proteins too. Milk has protein! And for the last time, Vegans and Vegetarians are NOT the same!

4. Arre try a bite of my chicken you’ll like it!
Hit people with your Aaloo tikki burger the next time someone says this. We don’t like meat, we don’t want meat. Let us eat our food in peace and stop shoving your meaty agenda down our throats!

5. If cavemen were vegetarian you wouldn’t be here today
If you’d applied logic we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Honestly, the cavemen did a lot of thing besides eating meat, like hunting and not wearing clothes why don’t you do that too then. Meanwhile, we’ll just sit here with our moong daal pakode and chutney.

6. How are you a vegetarian if you still eat an egg?
Learn the difference between a vegan and a vegetarian first. We don’t eat meat. An egg is not meat. Go annoy someone else.

7. So you just eat Paneer?
Yes, we JUST eat Paneer. In fact, we put Paneer in a blender and then make a smoothie out of it and drink that instead of water. When faced with stupidity, a vegetarian tends to throw a block of Paneer at the threat’s face. It’s just our natural response.

8. How can you not like meat?!
Please Google the concept of personal choice the next time you feel like saying something this stupid.

9. Are you not allowed to eat meat?
We don’t eat meat by CHOICE! No one is shoving broccolis in our faces, peas are not being shot at us through guns and NO, no one is baigan bombing us either. We like what we eat. Thank you very much.
